We will be honoring the long history of struggle against extractive industry with speakers from around so-called Australia and the world.

There will also be events on the Friday and Saturday night so that, if you have the energy, you can connect and chat about all the amazing stories of resistance in local and global history.
The body of the weekend will be discussion and workshops that give you the skills to meaningfully contribute to blockading IMARC like legal knowledge, direct action skills, communications know how and relationships to the people who you will be working with over the next week.
A weekend event to upskill and prepare you for the upcoming IMARC blockade.
11 am – Activist care workshop
It is important that our work is shaped by sustainability not only for our resource but also for ourselves. With decades of experience in direct action our facilitators will share their tools and philosophies that allow them to keep up the fight, that allows them to keep pushing the society towards meaningful revolution.
1pm – lunch (vegan and non vegan option)
2 pm – Struggles against Mining & Resource Extraction: Public Forum
This forum will be hosted to discuss the long history of struggle and successful resistance under colonial opression in Australia and overseas. Guest speakers will discuss their experiences and give a deep insight into resistance to give foundation to the week of blockading IMARC.
6 pm – Social drinks
9 am – Non-violent direct action (NVDA) training facilitated by Frontline Action on Coal (FLAC-Melbourne). You will learn about the history of direct action, how to partake in direct actions, as well as given time to practice the process of group decision making and working as an powerful community. This NVDA training will be specifically tailored to focus on tactics and actions of Blockading IMARC
– Melbourne Activist Legal Services (MALs): legal briefing, find out your legal rights when protesting, what the possible outcomes can be
1-1.30 pm – lunch
2 pm – Blockade IMARC Briefing and Planning Meeting
You can either join the ‘big planning meeting’ to get involved in the inner workings of the blockade, or attend a briefing session on at the same time. The briefing will be a discussion for people to find out what is actually happening at the Blockade IMARC, how the organisation behind it works, and how you can get involved. The ‘big planning meeting’ will be an all in meeting with everyone participating in the Blockade!
