Stop Adani Brisbane
Brisbane Non Violent Direct Action Training @ New Farm | Queensland | Australia

Australia has a long history of harnessing the power of people and using peaceful tactics like Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA) to bring about social change.

Stop Adani Brisbane and Stop Brisbane Coal Exports are co-hosting a full day NVDA training to give you the the courage, inspiration and the skills you need to stand up to protect the Climate from damaging coal projects right here in Brisbane!

If you’re ready to step it up and take bold action or just want to know more about what NVDA is and how it can be used as a powerful tool for change — then this workshop is for you!

We’ll discuss how and why civil disobedience and NVDA has been critical for change and therefore a successful element of social movements in Australia and the world throughout history. Come along to:
>> Understand the basic principles of Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA)
>> Learn how to prepare for NVDA and participate safely and effectively
>> Gain an understanding of the physical roles, logistics and planning of NVDA

We will also have a chance to explore our fears about taking action and explain what happens if you get arrested for civil disobedience (which is a subset of NVDA).

We welcome people who have never engaged in NVDA before, and encourage those with experience also to attend.

Towards the end of the training we will outline a number of opportunities to participate in some fun, upcoming actions in Brisbane!

A vegetarian morning tea and lunch will be provided

COST: This training is free but donations of $10-15 are gratefully accepted to help cover the costs of morning tea and lunch.
